Alivio Medical Center staff has operated the Pilsen Satellite Senior Center with the specific needs of the community as a guiding principle.  As the community’s only program space dedicated to Latino older adults, a special focus is to provide bilingual bicultural services.  Alivio is also expanding to serve the growing Chinese-speaking community.  We focus on both assistance and advocacy, including:

  • State-certified SHIP counselors provide Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries with timely information, application assistance and help with coverage, options and assistance programs.
  • Benefits Enrollment Center staff provide information, assistance and connections to programs that help older adults and people with disabilities save money on food, utilities, medication, healthcare, transportation, fees, cell phones and internet access.
  • Certified Affordable Care Act Assisters and Navigators help people find out about and enroll in healthcare coverage through Get-Covered Illinois, our state’s Affordable Care Act.

A True Partnership

The Pilsen Satellite Senior Center at Casa Maravilla opened its doors to the community in 2011.  The Senior Center is located at 2021 South Morgan, Chicago, IL, just north of Alivio’s comprehensive healthcare center.  The development and management of the PSSC is one of true collaboration and an example of the best of public-private partnerships.

The 7,000 square foot Senior Center can be found on the eastern half of the first floor of Casa Maravilla.  Casa Maravilla is a five-story, 72-unit building dedicated to housing low to moderate income adults aged 55 and older.  The Resurrection Project, a local non-profit development organization, built Casa Maravilla to meet the needs of community older adults who want to stay in the neighborhood.
