Alivio Medical Center’s Programs Manager, Sue Vega, Appointed to Illinois State Council on Aging

Sue Vega

Alivio Medical Center is proud to announce the appointment by Governor Pritzker of Sue
Vega, Programs Manager, to serve as Chairperson of the Illinois State Council on Aging. This prestigious appointment recognizes Vega’s long-standing commitment to community health, equity, and the well-being of older adults across the state.

With more than 20 years of experience leading community-focused initiatives at Alivio Medical Center, Vega has consistently championed programs that support underserved populations, including seniors. Her role on the Council will contribute valuable on-the-ground insights to statewide policy discussions and planning efforts aimed at improving the quality of life for Illinois’ aging population.

“We are thrilled to see Sue’s leadership recognized at the state level,” said Esther Corpuz, CEO of Alivio Medical Center. “Her passion for advocacy, inclusive programming, and culturally responsive care makes her a tremendous asset not only to Alivio, but to seniors throughout Illinois.”

The Illinois State Council on Aging serves as the advisory body to the Illinois Department on Aging, ensuring the voices of older adults are heard in the development and implementation of services and supports. Council members are selected for their expertise and demonstrated dedication to aging-related issues.

Vega shared, “I am so happy to serve as Chairperson of the Illinois Council on Aging and to have been appointed for another two-year term by Governor Pritzker. In the best of times, programming and resources for older adults are not always seen as a priority. During more challenging times, the Council serves as a conduit to bring information and to provide meaningful opportunities for learning and action. It is an honor to represent Alivio and our communities on this important body.”

Alivio Medical Center congratulates Sue Vega on this well-deserved recognition and looks forward to the meaningful contributions she will bring to the Council.
